In 1986 in Sidney, Nebraska John Barr and the organizers of the original Rod 'N Roll Car shows in Sidney got together and started the Cruise 'N Class Car Club.
The annual Cruise 'N Class car show is held the first weekend in October in conjunction with Sidney's Oktoberfest celebration. This annual car show boasts an attendance of 200+ cars. The car show includes a show and shine event, poker run and a dance each year.
Recent special projects of the Club have been membership drives , cruise nights, and sponsoring a scholarship for graduating high school students going into auto related fields. One special project in 2010 was the surprise "overhauling" on a car owned by a particularly enthusiastic supporter of the Cruise 'N Class Club. The pride and joy of this person was made "car show" ready by the members of the club in secret. You never saw a more surprised and happy "car nut".
Meetings are held at 7:00 p .m. on the third Monday of each month at Dick's Flooring at 1800 Illinois, Sidney, NE. Summer meetings are usually rod runs with dinner plans at one of the neighboring communities. One particularly special meeting is the one we plan to Potter, Nebraska with entertainment after dinner - That entertainment is "duck pin" bowling in a historic building in Potter. It's a meeting no member wants to miss out on.
Anyone interested in joining needs only to contact one of the officers or members. They are also welcome to attend one of our meetings. Annual dues are $5.00 per person.
A membership drive is held during the annual KSID Radio's cruise night in downtown Sidney which is usually held in June.
The 2011 car show was great. We had 195 cars entered and the weather was perfect. We are preparing for next year already with new officers and hopefully we will be able to offer one of the better car shows in the area. Will be putting up the new car pictures as soon as we can so have a great winter and will be looking forward to seeing everyone in 2012
